i use 2.81, i find it the best version. works good for me, no use to upgrade, espacially since 3.0 is crap from what i hear.

Still got both installed, but only use Version 3 these days for the better playlist features.

anyone who's to lazy to downgrade, you'll be glad when you do, winamp 3 may look better, but it loads up way slower, and from what I hear, uses alot of ram. I tried running it on my old 233, and, it, made, things, slow. Winamp 2.81 ran beautifully, and has everything I need, plus if you want extra functionality, just download some plug ins.

I've tried both, and while 3.x has some nice features, I can't use my favorite DSP plugin, so my music sounds like crap (I use Dee)

2.x also is much nicer on resources, not that I care much, but its still nice not to have a hog

2.x has more plugins and skins

2.x is less confusing to me, I don't have time to learn how to use it again, and I like how it works

IMHO, Winamp 2.81 is the best with the right plugins. To me, 3 was bloatware. I didn't need it eating up all that RAM. My mp3 player is supposed to do just that: play Mp3s.

It works. Sound output is great and it functions well.

    I use both...

I have both installed, but use 2.81 more since 3.0 loads more slowly and I like the interface of the older one a little better.

    3.0 has awesome, functional skins.

Phalkon, I use Dee2 for Winamp 3.0 and I believe that the original is available for it as well.

I like Winamp 2.81 the best. Winamp 3 is a resource hog and doesn't (as many of you have stated) support nearly as many plug-ins.

Rahwgwar shares my view as well. I do not need Winamp for anything more than what it was originally intended for, playing music. If I want to play video, then I can always turn to Windows Media Player 9 or the vast collection of rivals.

I use Dee as well. It works wonders on crappy speakers, especially if you have a high quality file to work with. I could care less about the extra features in W3, nor do i have enough files to care about the extra playlist stuff.

I like 2.8.1 better. It has more plugins and it uses a lot less RAM than 3.0

Isn't the whole point of your poll ruined or at least not up to par because of your subject title? I mean, the option of "I don't use winamp" is pointless if you're attracting only winamp users.

I guess some people are just plain curious and can't help but check things out.

BTW: I use 2.81, but its looks like I'm going to become a Foobar2000 convert by the time it hits version 1.0

Well, DFX is a DSP plugin

DSP = Digital Sound Processing, basicly it amplifies parts of the signal, sorta like an EQ, just more powerful and easier to tune
