StarBand satellite with Linux Mandrake 9.0/9.1??

Well as some of you know I got StarBand satellite and again i want to try and get linux mandrake. but i dunno if it will work. because on the starband website they say you need windows. but i talked to some guy online and he said when you start linux it should just detect the internet and it should be just fine. Because he said this is what linux/windows do. so what do you guys think on it, do you think it would work?

The Linux Revolution will never win the desktop war. It is there as an alternitive. It may never rise to a great level but it will never be shutdown.
