    P2P Capped

I have a problem with my university's connection. I'm connected through a lan on a t2 that allows me virtually limitless bandwidth when connecting to servers, ftp's, etc. But somehow they have discovered a way to limit peer to peer connections to 2k/s. Just happened recently, last semester my connections were not capped.
Once again, this is limited solely to P2P connections, and on campus p2p is not capped but EXTREMELY fast. This leads me to believe that there is someway around this cap. I would be very appreciative of any advice anyone can give me. I am rather ignorant to connections, so as much detail as possible would be appreciated.

    Thanks for your time.

Hmm, you could try changing p2p ports to use basic web traffic, or the time server port

I can't find the ports I'm reffering to, maybe somebody else knows what I'm trying to get at?

well, i would be real careful right now...

they wouldnt cap off that port (for filesharing) if they didnt mind you doing it. so be careful if ya try to change ports. a lot of traffic on the network time port could clue them in, and then they might be pissed.

    so watch your ass...

Yeah, I'm looking for something like that, just need more details. As for them getting angry at me, they haven't released any official release saying don't do it, so I'm just going to try and take my chances.

The same thing has happened to a lot of my friends at different schools. Basically they just gave up.

At my school, they say they have them on a very low priority... because it's illegal and all they can't really be like "yea you can download copyrighted material using our connection, have fun"... What I ended up doing was finding something that worked, because nothing else did.... I ended up with Soulseek. And that only works well at night--late at night.
