    sound and video dont match?

hi, im kind of new to kazza and having trouble after i download a video . the sound is out of sync with the video (its usually a couple of seconds off.) i tried changing my graphics settings and using different players, this seems to have some effect on the playback although not substantial. ive got 248mb of ram a 500mhtz cpu and a voodo3 3000 graphics card could i be that antiquated? any feedback would be appreciated....... thanks, gerry :)

I have the same problem with certain low quality movies. I think it just has to do with the quality of the movie. If you are searching for a movie, dl the one with the most users or that is the biggest because that usually means it is better quality.

Yeah, welcome to the nightmare I like to call audio/video synch problems, and it happens to the best of us. I got a program called AVI info about a year back, and I don't know how wide spread it is, but if you have enough patience, you can fix pretty much any video. Link, link, link.....

You can download it here (avinfo 1.2)

Here's a link, this is a tutorial that explains how to fix it fairly well.

Anyone else know a better way to do it? Obviously Virtualdub can match the frame rate to the audio, but it can only do so much, sometimes they won't match up after that, sometimes that makes it worse.

CCS is pretty good with the A/V stuff and synch problems, might want to ask him

Could be a number of things...

    Few questions for ya...

    1) Does this happen only on AVI's? All videos? DVD Rips only?

    2) Did you check for HD/Video conflicts? Or anything being in compatibility mode that is linked to A/V? Sound/Video Card drivers/ect.

    3) Are any parts of the video screwed up? IE blocky crap and lock ups that require you to seek forward to pass them?

    4) Which players have you tried?

    5) What version of DivX do you have installed?

Post back with more info and I'll see what I can come up with for a fix.
