    Question Poorly Implemented Tabbed Browsing In Mozilla And Phoenix

    Rant Zone: If I remember correctly, at one point Mozilla had an option to open all links in tabs, as opposed to an entirely new browsing window. Whatever happened to that. I think the removal of that feature is the main reason I left Mozilla in favor of MyIE2. It sucks having to remember to middle click or ctrl+left click just to make tabbed browsing work the way it should. All windows should be opened in tabs, just like the creators of tabbed browsing (Opera) had it. Also, the many, wonderful IE shells. I would use Opera, but after thinking about it and testing it, it's not only Microsoft pages that don't work well with it. They're simply not the best coders in the world. Mozilla/Phoenix are perfectly compatible with almost all sites, and even support code that IE doesn't. I'd prefer to use Phoenix, but the poor implentation of tabbed browsing makes it awkward... especially after over a year of not having to put up with pages opening up in entirely new windows. I've played around with all the tabbed browsing option in Phoenix and Mozilla, but pages still open up in new windows.

    Ok, now that I've vented my frustration... Does anyone know if there's a way to hack Mozilla/Phoenix back into shape and make it open all pages in tabs?

    Thumbs up

    Thanks, this works perfectly. Does it not make the browser "unthemeable" though?

    Thanks, I like moz even more now.

    With enough memory to handle a zillion tabs, the open all links in a new tab option is an interesting new way of browsing, no clicking back because every previous page is still open.

    For some reason with moz 1.2 the option to force javascript popups into tabs isn't working so I'm still chasing them around.
    I'l read the dox and play more later

    You might consider just getting used to opening in tabs by clicking with the mouse wheel (if you have one). I use Phoenix and when browsing, I find it convenient to be able to simply click the mouse wheel since that's where my finger usually is anyway because I've been scrolling the page.

    sure, the more tabs open, the more memory is used, so the middle-mouse button is a good solution. I find the constant opening of tabs for any link kind off tedious too! ;-|}

    This seems to be a bit buggy. Some sites arn't loading when forced into a new tab, a suspect a problem with the referer field.
    Moz is playing up generally .

    I think I'l uninstall this.
