Wait a second guys...just imagine for a second you ARE the artist.....do you have any idea how hard it is to get people to listen to your music?when was the last time you downloaded a song just to listen to it for no apparent reason. When was the last time you went to a concert of a band you never heard of (and they were not friends of yours of course!). The reason we know even the "underground bands" is either because we found out through a cirtain path ie "Electroclash" etc or because those big companies spend a fortune to feed them to us....Cmon guys... the radio the parers TV they are only tools...So the real promotoin for the companies is the production cost.NOT the cost of the CD you all know Mariah's example...she was selling mad amount of records comparing to other artists. All im saying is we have to find a way take the artists on our side so they leave their companies...this is not easy of course...
As long as people dont make BOOTLEGS will be alright...
This topic has already been done (and quite recently), so there's no need to re-iterate everything for this thread. Just refer to: http://www.zeropaid.com/bbs/showthre...&threadid=6640 .
I am a marketer myself, but I beleive the marketers should be booted out of the music industry. Consumers should have a direct relationship with the consumer. I personally hope this is the future for may markets, even if it puts me out of the job! (by the way I am a marketer of Internet gambling, I am evil and I love it!)
Damn, bet your doing very well for yourself lol ;)Originally posted by sharedawealth

Guys you are missing the point here..Ur talking about genres... so what if you have 40 compilations of several techno artists...do you think this will help anyone make a name for themselves in the web?? thats what i meant... we should just go on about how record companies are bad for our health but think of a way we can continue to receive music on aregularbasis without them. And of course saying that artists should make money from gigs is unfounded...cause if you dont know...gigs...especially those that generate income cost A LOT to setup and even more to promote....i have a Huuuuuge record and cd collection but after the days of napster i only buy my favourites...i can say i used to spend loads of money on records...and no i dont think they are reeealy overpriced if you consider the promotion that goes with them. Im only asking for ways to achive the same thing through P2P this is when the record companies will be useles...when their money wont be able to buy success....And it can be done if P2P as a community we work together...Just look at the Linux community...ther are not winning yet but they are close....Lets just have some ideas people....
