    What Does This Mean?

Sometimes I'll have a song in que to download and I'll later do a search on the same song but search won't find it again, yet it's still in my que. Then when it comes time to be downloaded it disconnects. Any ideas? Thanks.

and if you are sharing, then its bc you got disconnected from your 'ultrapeer', if it doesnt say 'online' in the title bar, then you aren't gonna dl anything. it could also be bc your 'ultrapeer' changed... the different peers above you arent connected to the same people... so 'johndoe' on one 'ultrapeer', you won't necessarily find on another.

Thanks for your response. To the person before you, I am sharing!

Where will I find the designation "Online?" Is it where the Que # resides? Also, how do I make sure I'm on a "good" ultrapeer? A fellow user critized me a while back for being on a "bad" net. Is this the same as an ultrapeer, and if not, how do I get on a "good" net that won't get me disconnected? Thanks again for your help.

you can find out whether you are online in 2 places: the first is the 'network' tab. the 2nd is in the title bar (up at the very top of the window ^ )

you cant really make sure you are on a good ultrapeer but you can tell sometimes by the following signs:

    - you do a search for a song that you had gotten a lot of hits from earlier, and get no results, or very few.
    - you want to dl a song or whatever, and the file says "waiting for network reply" for a while (more than 15 seconds) or it times out at waiting for network reply
    - in the bandwidth graph, right after you connect, it should not look very spikey, it should go up and come down, no more than about 5 times. otherwise, the ultrapeer you got is very busy, or is trying to use more bandwidth than they really have.

if these signs start showing up, go to the networks tab, and click refresh.

I should have mentioned that I'm using Open Nap. Does refresh help me with that as well?

    sry, missed that.

no, in opennap, refresh does nothing. but in opennap, when you search, once the results stop coming in, you have searched everyone... there is no way to reach more users on an opennap server.

so, if ya cant find something on opennap, nobody has it on that particular server. but the more servers you have, the better luck you have for finding it.

Thanks for your response. Just to clarify, when you say, "so, if ya cant find something on opennap, nobody has it on that particular server". Isn't it "just at this particular moment in time?" At another time, with different users active, I might get the download then, correct?

    deleting winmx

Hi. I tried to uninstall winmx to reinstall it, but the old version(s) stay on my computer. Now I have about 4 of them, and I can't find them in my "add/remove programs". Can anyone help? Also, can anyone tell me how to speed up uploads? Thanks!

How exactly did you "uninstall" it? if through ad remove programs, it should be gone

After you go through ad remove programs, find the programs file folder, and delete that, it should be completely removed (you may have to delete start menu shortcuts also

    Then reinstall

    I tried that

Thanks for your reply. I tried that, but then when I reinstalled, it said it already exists! I have about 3 different winmx programs with 3 different screen names, and each different one could just randomly show up. I still can't get rid of it, despite your advice!

Hi. Could anyone please help me allow people to upload faster from me? I don't want to change any settings I'm unsure of. Thanks in advance!

In kazaa lite 2.1 with k++ do the following:

Click Options -> Kazaa lite options.
(in other versions of kazaa just find the options)
Click the advanced tab and set the 'bandwith for transferring files to other kazaa users' to the level you want, preferrably unlimited. That way you let the users uploading from you take full advantage of your available bandwith.

Also, you can consider raising The number of users to upload from you simultainiously higher under the 'traffic' tab.

    Hope this helps
