    Pinnacle PCTV prob

Anyone in here have ever used Pinnacle PCTV 5 ?
There is no way I can get it working with winXP Pro (haven't tried it yet with linux...) When installing the Video Capture driver, the whole system crashes and corrupts almost all the media components registry... :S
Should I get Windows XP Media Center ?

    My PC is:

    Athlon XP 2000+
    Aopen AK75 MotherBoard
    512Mb Ram
    80Gb HD
    52x Aopen CD-ROM
    8-4-32 Ricoh CD-RW+DVD
    On board sound card
SiS nVidia Geforce 4 64mb GPU (<-- Could this be the problem?)
    10/100 LAN card
    Pinnacle PCTV PCI card.

Please help me on this one

How do you know this corrupts almost all the media components registry?

No, you do not need Media Center, you NEED to use the Hardware Compatability Wizard to see if you can install it under W2000 Compatability.

Did you check Pinnacles site for support? Does it Say this is bult for XP? Go back to their site and fish a bit.

DId you check the Microsoft Software Compatability Page?
    . <------ insert NO here

Then Use the Program Compatability Wizerd, and bwose to your setup file, select W2000 as the compatability mode, see what happens.

    and never bef for assistance.

    Tks

Yes, these drivers are XP even if they are not digitaly signed... but they're supposed to work fine with XP.

I know that it curupts almost every media registry since in the "device manager" they're all set with the "!" and they all say that their registry is wrong.

I've installed an old driver (4.0, from 1999) instead of the 2002, version 5.01, and it works fine for now, I mean I didnt have any troubles with the registry and so on, but it is not listenning to the caTV... don't know what's going wrong...

    I'll try the software compatibility...

Where do you find the hardware compatibility ?

    Thanks to you, Krell !
