can't play, rename, remove file (too long name)

    Hi all together,
I hope someone here can help me.
I downloaded a file from Kazaa Lite with a very long filename. It contains a long filename with extension and after that follow 25 spaces and all the keywords to search for to find this file. I don't know why they are in the filename in this case.
I can't play, rename, remove or move the file. I don't know what I can do now to delete it. Is there a way to rename or remove it from my computer ? (I have Windows 2000 Professional running.)
Thanks a lot for a helping answer.

There are a number of reasons why you may have trouble with this, too many to go in to here.

Instead of trying to get you to do 20 things, just DL this
    http://www.gibinsoft.net/gipoutils/bin/moveonb.exe

It will take the headache out of many of these problems for you. Learn to use the right click options it integrates.

MoveOnBoot allows you to copy, moves or delete files on the next system boot. This comes in very handy, if you need to replace or delete files which are locked by other applications, loaded into memory or cannot be changed until next system boot. You could manually enter a line to the wininit files, but using MoveOnBoot is much simpler, since the program can be integrated into shell - it creates the "Copy/Move/Delete on boot" context menu item

    cheers

    Hi Krell,
thanks to you, maybe I'll try this but isn't there another way without installing a tool ? Because there is only one file to remove and I don't know if I have this problem again in the near future.
I would be thankful for more help

Restart your PC, restart, and try cutting the full, and pasting it to the root of your C: drive ( where your Program Files and Windows folders are) but dont place it in a folder. then try and delete it from there.
Thats worked for me in the past

    Thx r_xq

I agree cut n paste works for me too sometimes, when nothing else will. Also, sometimes, I change the Explorer size, type, date modified, size, type . .. .. a few times, to change the order of the files, and then I can drag. I had a pow-wow about this last week, not sure why Explorer is locking it, only that it is DEF Explorer to blame.

move the file to a new folder and delete that folder that usually works.

    Hi All,
I thank you very much for your help. But I couldn't move the file as well. Nothing worked with it --> no play, no move, no rename, no remove, no properties to show, really nothing.
Finally I was able to remove it by starting with a Windows Me start disk and using >DEL FILENA~1.EXT< on the DOS prompt.
    Thanks again for your help
