How can I find a specific user
I have a DSL connection and loads of files on my PC.
My neighbour has a Cable connection. We are both running WinMX, but whatever we try, he can not access any of my files, or even see me in any list of search reslult, even if I share a file with a unique name that he searches for.
I can not find him either.
We both connect using the Winmx peer network .
Any advise would be appreciated.

Ask him to meet you in one specific chatroom in winmx. You talk while you browse files and download.

Since its inception almost 30 years ago, the internet has been transformed from a primitive device for sharing thoughts and ideas, into a massive network where people pay to connect and read advertisements they don't want, while calling each other "asshats".

Sometimes the network is in a better state than others. If you keep trying I'll bet you will find each other, and that would indicate a better network status.
The decentralized network they have is not as reliable as the centralized network of Napster was.
