Angry narrow faces?problem converting to vcd

    Hello everybody,

I have 2 movies that i downloaded from winmx. I wanted to transfer them to vcd. The format of the movies i beleive is AVI format. I successfully converted avi format into mpeg file format and burned the movie, lets call it movie X into VCD. Lets call the second move- movie Y,. The unfortunate thing is that I have a problem encoding the second movie into mpeg format.. I managed to encode it alright but the encoded format picture becomes narrow. like the faces and the structure of the characters in the movie become really verticlly long and narrow. when i play the source/original downlded movie, it plays perfectly alright, Only when i play the encoded mpeg format, i get distorted image as i mentioned above. To my surprise i found what seemed to be the problems using AVI codec software. the above 2 movies have different setting video etc settings. Please take a look at the following info that i found using AVI codec.:

    Movie X

    Video : 339 Mb, 1187 Kbps, 29.970 fps, res. 352*240 (4:3), = MPEG Video, supported
    Audio : 64 Mb, 224 Kbps, 44100 Hz, 2 chan., 0x50 = Mpeg-1 audio Layer 1, supported
A1 codec name: MPEG 1 AUDIO layer 1
    Video aspect ration 4:3
    Video resolution: 352x240
    File type : DSH

    Movie Y

    Video : 525 Mb, 731 Kbps, 29.970 fps, res. 720*304 (2.21:1), DIV3 = DivX ;-) MPEG-4 (Low-Motion), supported
    Audio : 95 Mb, 128 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 2 chan., 0x55 = MPEG Layer-3, supported
Video code name:Divx Mpeg 4 low motion
    A1 codec name : mpeg layer 3
    Video aspect ratio: 2.21:1
    Video resolution: 720x304

No problem encoding Movie X into mpeg, but problem encoding movie Y as mentioned above.

My question is, does anybody know how to change Movie Y's setting similar to Movie X settings? I hope somebody may have some idea. if you solve this problem you are the most smart/inteligent computer whiz i will have known, and i hope some one can solve this problem.

By the way i use TMPEG encoder to encode the above movies.

    Please help.

    Regards,

This is the guide I used when I first started converting divix to mpg to create a (s) vcd. http://www.vcdhelp.com/forum/userguides/111846.php
It is a walk thru for virtualdub and dvd2svcd. If anything, just use the virtualdub portion, then convert using TMPGEnc

    Hope this helps.
