Facebook could offer 'premium' option after float, says analyst (News.com.au)

A FACEBOOK "premium" service that you have to pay for and invasive targeted advertising are just two of the changes predicted for the social network as it goes public in the largest net company float ever.

With the paperwork for the initial public offering already lodged in the expected $US5 billion ($4.67 billion) capital raising, news.com.au asked Australian technology research company Telsyte what we could expect about the future of the tech giant.

Analyst Foad Fadaghi said the influence of investors and shareholders would inevitably change the way we use the social network.

    YES, THERE WILL BE ADVERTISING

The upside, maybe FaceBook will finally stop being such a freaking universal website with people leaving the site in droves and finding out there is more to the internet than FaceBook and Twitter.

Charging for facebook has been a hubris floating around for ages with no basis in reality despite repeated quotes from Facebook itself. the core experience will never be charged for however they may add features they want you to pay for. We all know everyone will shit on that though dont we.

I check my facebook like once a month. If they decide to charge money it will not affect me at all. If facebook shut down tomorrow i would not even care to be honest.
