    configuring winmx ports and router

I have been using winmx for about a year and have been experiencing slowdowns and complete loss of internet connection intermittently. Recently through the different winmx forums I`ve learned how to configure my smc barricade and change the default ports for winmx. This has Improved matters immensely with only a few side effects. I still cannot make a primary connection and others cannot seem to connect to get my shared files. The requests show up in the upload area but they just timeout and never connect, I can download fine, better than ever with average transfer speed in the 10-20mb/s range per user connection. I am using 2 puters with winxp, both are 1gig plus cpu`s. Before I changed the ports, if I had winmx running on 1 puter, the other would slow down drastically, I saw ping times of 1,800 ms! When I closed winmx, my internet connection went right back to normal ping time of 74 ms. I have verizon dsl service, apparently they are limiting the default ports drastically.

    I have this same problem

I'm on a router and no one can upload from me. I must use a secondary internet connection, too. I hope someone can help, because it's annoying seeing all those timeouts. Someone even called me a jerk in a private message, but I have no idea how to fix the problem. It isn't my fault.

Since its inception almost 30 years ago, the internet has been transformed from a primitive device for sharing thoughts and ideas, into a massive network where people pay to connect and read advertisements they don't want, while calling each other "asshats".

LEECHES RUN, YOUR TIME IS RUNNING OUT

    :fire
Are you sick of long ques both uploading and downloading. Wish you could share with people who share. There is a new program that kills leechers plus helps you manage your shared slots. Here is the info copied from the site. The product is called Leech Hammer.

    smartgamez.org

"LeecHammer is a FREE Windows program designed to work in tandem with WinMX and help eliminate leeches from your upload queue.

Do you want to share files, but are sick of rude users clogging your queue or refusing to share? LeecHammer can help HAMMER those leeches into oblivion once and for all!

But LeecHammer does more than just hammer leeches - it helps manage your upload queue, bandwidth and sharing rules - making your queue more accessible to friendly users and rewarding those who are generous.

LeecHammer works with WinMX versions 3.3 and greater. It runs on Windows 98/Me/NT/2000/XP."

    60soldiesguy,

The correct place to advertise this program would be the news article section.

I just added the last digit to the ip address in my router config which was a 0 and now I`m getting upload connections. ie 192.000.0.00.
