What is a good free e-mail site that resides outside of the US?

I'm just wondering if other's have looked in to something like this. I know that the US is trying to pass PROTECT-IP and SOPA right now and it's pretty much a smart move to look in to something like this at this point in time.

I know Hush Mail exists in Canada, but there were cases a few years ago where government can pry anything they want out of their system of privacy and identify users, so I think that is out of the question. Any others?

I take that as a "no, there's nothing else"?

    Sure there is : http://www.fepg.net/foreign.html

But why would you bother? Carnivore (aka Einstein, DCS1000) reads any email that passes through US ISP lines. The only way to not have it read is to encrypt it (in which case it is flagged and traced) and if you want to go through the bother of encrypting it why not just use US based email then?

If I am not mistaken Drew is Canadian, why would his communication have to go through U.S. ISP's ? This is precisely why he wants a different mail service. Not that it matters, just means the Canadian government can spy on him instead. Canada is about to pass internet warrantless wiretapping.

I'll probably have a few more months of reprieve. I'll get tracked, but there's not a whole lot that the Canadian government can do beyond watching my communications. In the US, however, I might eventually get extradited to the US for criticising the king/president/corporate overlords. :P

Since I'm in Canada, there's a slightly better chance my communications won't necessarily get well tracked. The only question is how many lines jump the border between me and the servers I access to view webpages.

    Thanks for posting that carp.
