    Remembering Mels_Smileys45

    Whatever happened to him?
    24v8fwk.gif

I know there are many other members that have dropped out of existence, but Mels was very popular here, as his high reputation (88173) would suggest. I've received a few PM's asking about his whereabouts, which is why I believe a thread was necessary. It's been several months since we've heard from him. He was a good guy, with good humour. I dedicate this thread in his memory. In cyber world we have no way of knowing if someone actually passes away or goes off the deep end, etc. I know Mels loved this forum...even though it's a love/hate relationship for many of us, including him, he was still a huge part of our daily poop. I personally miss his humour and his anecdotes.

It's like he dropped off the internet completely about 4-5 months ago. Even before that it seemed like something was wrong. I know he went through hell with the weather and flooding down his way. So where ever you are, Mels, if you're still alive, we wish you well, or RIP, if the worst has occurred. You are missed.

This post is not meant in any disrespect to our fallen vets that, above all, also deserve our respect and rememberance, on this day, November 11/2011. Lest we forget.

I am a vet of the USAF and would rather hear from Mel and acknowledge his contributions here, then from some vets who make it a carrier out of complaining how much they supposedly did or how forgotten they are.

In the U.S. we have Vets Day, Pearl Harbor Day, Memorial Day, Armed Forces Day, Air Force Day, Coast Guard Day, Navy Day, Marine Corps Day and Flag Day/Army Day. Then there is Independence Day, for which Vets are promently mentioned and acknowledged.

I can careless if they have any kind of vets day at all. I did not enlist to have a day in my honor, or to be remembered for. I did it out of the belief that I owed something to my fellow citizens of the U.S.

I wanted to make it clear that this thread was only a coincidence that it fell on Armistice Day (Remembrance Day). Remembrance Day in Canada is about giving respect and remembrance for the fallen. You know, those that died to keep our countries free. They have my respect and thanks.

We have Memorial Day, for those that gave all. And Vets. Day for those that gave some. I see no reason for all the other
    Days.
Out nation combined Lincoln's birthday, and Washingtons birthday, into Presidents Day.
Members of the military such as I do not need half a dozen more holidays of platitude. How about like presidents day we combine all those days into Military Day?

Just out curiosity of how many ZP'ers here are military vets?
That inlcudes both foreign and domestic (US) members of any military.

If you are a vet of a foreign nation, how many days does your nation have that honors veterans?

Come on dog! This thread is about Mels and Mels alone. He was a great guy and we all miss him. In all due respect, please create your own thread if you wish to discuss your curiosity about vets.

Mels last post was only a few months back so I believe he's still out there, he just needs to quit wanking with moon light and let us know how good it was.

He last posted around the end of July and seemed a bit off, IMO, from his usual self. Read for yourself:

I know a few other members have been worried about him too. I know if Potato could log in she'd definitely have something to say.
