it's strange, but i have no real issues with the site. my beloved "Settings" link is back to where it should be, and i have no issues posting. for those who have issues logging in, try Shift+F5 and you should be ok. i logged in yesterday in chrome and today on FF, no probs so far.
what does matter though is some of our regulars are having issues with the site, including myself. Apparently, Potato can't even get logged in. I refuse to use Chrome just to make my forum experience better. FF has not worked properly for me since the get go, and IE is even worse. I have to refresh every page, post, and even log in. It sucks that no one is doing anything about it. Fucking ads still where they shouldn't be. Make shift fixes are bullshit! We shouldn't have to refresh and/or try Shift+F5 to be OK. Bullshit, FFS!
I'm glad you're happy with the site though, w31n3r. Thanks for the useless input.
edit: No offense w31n3r, but I'm sure you can feel my frustration. Workarounds are not the solution here. Only admin can fix this problem. I feel like sticking a workaround up someones lazy ass.

I have to tick the "remember me?" box to do anything at all if that helps Potatoe at all (I'm guessing Potatoe already tried that though)

Ahahahaha!!!! Just kidding! Just ignore that last message. Carry on citizens and please submit your IP addresses and private BT sites you visit to the FBI. We are... uh... holding a contest to give away a free car for those that submit the most.
... really!

arrrgh! i just spent and hour and a half testing and wrote a long post in reply only for chrome to crash (i
was testing a faulty memory module, stupid me).
here's the gist; i'm sorry my previous post came off douchebaggy, to make up i've tried to tested this site on IE,
Chrome and FF. why? because we can't just wait for jorge to get off his ass and do something, so lets at
least do what we can do.
first, is it possible to create a new forum heading on the forum home page at the top of others so it's
prominent? if so, it could contain an announcement for returning members detailing login issues and so on.
basically keeping them in the loop. like the heading File Sharing on the home page and the announcement
under it.
now the login/refresh issue. for some reason, the browsers local cache does not seem to update. which is why
even after logging in, you appear logged out. hitting Ctrl+F5 will bypass the local cache and force the
browser to get a fresh copy, thus updating the local cache in the process. so far, in chrome and FF it
appears you have to do this only once untill and unless you clear your cache/history. in IE i had a little
more difficulty. to get around that IE users can disable their cache by going to internet options>general
tab>browsing history>settings>check "everytime i visit the webpage". pain in the ass i know but a quick 15
second fix. it shouldn't be like this, but it's something to work with in the mean time. especially for R&R
and the other mods who need to be able to work to keep this site ticking for us.
the editor image icon set missing seems to be a fairly common but (usually) easily fixed issue from what
i've read on the VB Support forums. i thing jorge is already working on that. who knows...
i've never noticed the ads before since i use ad block but we do need a confirmation if this is now a policy
that logged in members still get ads. jorge? if so you can try ad block plus for all major browsers or like
pooter use an edited hosts file, which is actually recommended (though i'm too lazy to do that myself :P)
thats all i got, i'm sure i've forgotten something from my original post but what the heck. please do
consider the announcement thingy as we've been trying to get old members back and i think it's important if
we can get them to at least post.

There's an ad at the top under the breadcrumbs, one in the first post on each page, and one at the bottom of the page.
The one in the posts wasn't there before. No idea about the one on the bottom.

I personally use HostsMan, which can be found HERE
Easy as hell to use, and it will download pre-edited hosts files for you.
If you find it blocking something on your favorite site you can easily go in and edit the hosts file to your liking.
Been using it for years without complaint.
