I just downloaded WinMX today. I've never downloaded any other program like this before. Could you help me out with a few things please?
1) When I do a search for a song, a whole list comes up. How do I know which song to download? Is there a way to listen to them before I download?
2) What does all this stuff mean: Bytes, Time, Bitrate, Freq, User, Speed, Ping, and Status/Server, and everything under Status/Server?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks much,
Nat

yea, winmx is nice... dling is kind of hit or miss... in the bitrate, u optimally want a file with a 'bitrate' of 192, and a freq of 44100. a filesize of more than 1 mb helps assure that you get a real file, not some fake. status shows you about the queues. the more 'available' the better.

Click the + symbols, you can see how many people have a paticular track. A track with ten sources is more likly to download fast than a track that only one person has.

This is entierly down to personal opinion.
I get 128K mp3's because they use less diskspace and they sound ok to me on my cheap speakers.
Thank you for your help! I got a few songs so far. It sure does take some getting used to though. One song took only 20 minutes to download, and then another took over an hour. I'm sure I'll be a pro at it in no time though.
Thanks again!
