I'm super sad... I've been trying to find people to play music with ever since I moved to seattle, but it's just been damn near impossible. Now I mean it's been less than 6 months of searching... but I don't even like have any friends or anything atm. been just schoolin/workin so, the few jams I've had were with people from craigslist and it's just not been a mesh at all. It's really sucked. I mean I understand I'm eclectic but I'm not really THAT weird. I just don't think that being a bassist = bitch boy. I write my own damn music, I'll even upload a song this week (tomorrow if time permits...) and I know I can play a great bassline. I've seen it in action in 3 bands now. but I just am exhausted of not hitting it off with people and wasting my time & energy. bluh.

Artists always hit that low every so often - at least, that's always been my experience with a lot of people I've talked to over the years.
I've had it every so often whenever I am creating music and I stare at FL Studio's for an hour or so and eventually thinking, "Fuck... I can't think or do ANYTHING worth listening to!"
Usually, it's somehow changing gears. Sometimes it's just taking a breather before something comes to me. Sometimes it's just listening to the most random music and thinking of something. Sometimes, it's just a matter of pushing the screen away and not thinking about it for a day. One way or another, it's always possible to get over that log jam. It doesn't always feel like it's possible, but there's always a way and sooner or later, finding it.
I don't know if that helps any in your particular situation, but I hope it helps in some small way.

I use my computer as a home studio. I have a relatively cheap audio input (Roland - Edirol UA-25) and use Cool Edit Pro. This enables me to jam with myself by laying down tracks and jamming with myself. I have written lots of my own songs this way, as well as entertaining myself for hours and hours. It's not a perfect solution, but it does work for me when I feel like jamming.

well as a quick update... APPARENTLY I'M NO LONGER A BASSIST. Now I'm guitarist/frontman or something. Weird. I'd explain, but its too soon, don't want to jinx it!
either way How should I record like an electric guitar and singing at the same time? I only have one dynamic mic so I was thinking placing it in the center of the room and playing from there... I tried using my computer's mic but it was clipping and making the guitar sound really quiet (though for the first split second of playing it usually gets the guitar at the right volume...?)
thanks for the advice btw I really appreciate it... and RNR... When do we get to hear your licks...? Or maybe I have and I'm forgetting...

I just wrote a new song today. I feel like this is one of my best songs so far. It's not the most complex, but emotionally/lyrically/thoughtfully is the best IMO.
I need a mic so badly though.
try not to rip too hard. Though Idk why you should ;)

I know a few people who are in bands. Would you like me to talk to them about you? Seattle has a lot of talent hidden in the woodwork. Don't despair yet.
The one thought I've had when watching is why not try recording the vocals separately from the guitar? The advantage then is that you can edit them back together and play with the levels manually instead of letting the levels get decided on a single audio track during the recording. I know it's possible to get an audio jack to USB adapter if that helps anything (so you could hook it up via USB for the potential of using multiple audio inputs)
No idea how well the camera records audio though. :\
