Hi people,
I've wondered if there were/are any private trackers that outlaw overseeding? I am not in dire need of getting upload credit on any of the private trackers I am on but was wondering if this happens a lot? I have yet to see if anyone has been doing this on the sites I use but I'm guessing it can be complicated given that trackers allow freeleech, or a percentage thereof, and award upload credit for donating. I don't mind seeking a buffer so they can download a large file whilst maintaining a ratio of 1 but overseeding for the sake of just having a high number ratio is against the spirit of filesharing as it restricts participating from those who are possibly denied upload credit whose ratios require it. I'm obviously not including the original uploaders here as I believe they ought to be credited with as much upload credit as possible, rather than have a rich user jump on their torrents with seedboxes and take more upload credit than the uploader.
Peace.

I seed all my files permanently, with ratios ranging from 15 to 8730.
It doesn't matter, though, as I have no interest in private trackers.
I do not believe any of the trackers I belong to outlaw overseeding, but some do discourage it. Im on the fence here. I see how it can be unfair to people with slower speeds, but most sites now have bonus systems in place (like BCG) which makes overseeding helpful instead of hindering by giving downloaders more speed on the torrents. Sites that do not like overseeding should just do the same thing.

Oh right. That's good. I was thinking of sites that did not have a bonus system. I used to use ADC and someone with ~ 20GB download and 260GB upload decided to criticise my ratio despite having only downloaded 4GB as the ratio appeared underneath the username in forum posts. He wasn't an uploader either and many files were poorly seeded. I'm going back about 3 years but wondered if there were developments in the BitTorrent community.

Ratios are the problem not overseeding. Peers that continue seeding is good for the swarm. If everyone seeded like they should their wouldn't be a need for ratios.
