No uploads allowed, but showing in search???
Hey Everyone!
My first post on this board...
I've noticed that there are quite a few users who show up in my search results but when I enter their queue, my dl never starts.
I've tried WinMX v3.1, v3.11 Beta & 2.6...all with the same results. I did notice the 2.6 has more info in the WhoIs and thats where I noticed that these users usually have quite a few in their queue but with 0 uploads and 0 downloads!
What's the trick???
Show up in search result, have an Autoresponse, allow people to enter your queue but nothing starts until you manually start it????
Thanks,
TheDingo

It might be a bug and people are actually uploading but it just doesn't show it. Other than that i'm not sure.

heh I'd put my money on they're blocking uploads in their firewall, so people won't disconnect them for not sharing files when they really aren't sharing. Just my 2 cents though... lol

i have heard that the "whois" info is not accurate... so someone maybe uploading or downloading when it says they aren't. i think this is bc the status is updated to the "ultrapeer" or "supernode"... whatever its called in winmx. there are sometimes delays in this.
good luck

Greets everyone & thanks Jorge!
I gotta go with InspectorGadget on this. Most of the users I mentioned have the WinMXj version and I believe they either use a firewall or they've found a way to hack WinMX to allow any number of people to queue up but with 0 uploads per user.
Either way, I personally won't deal with them...so now my Autoresponse includes "Share or you will be ignored!"
But thats just my opinion...
