I have got a new internet connection last week. The average download speeds for DAP come to be around 90 KiloBytes/s(verified by DSL reports). The bittorrent setup guide also gives a average speed of 70 KKBps...however the download speed for any torrent rarely exceeds 17KBps......even if the no. of seeds are around 500. Is there any thing i have missed during the settings...i have kept the download and upload speed limits as 0(unlimited)
Thanks in advance for any suggestions anyone has.
Router, perhaps?

Don't use unlimited in "both" upload & download settings. For just download setting is O.K., but both will not leave any room for router to direct traffics.

CAnnot be a router problem...because 1. A router cannot differentiate between ordinary packets and torrent packets
and 2. Because all routers belonging to all torrent seeds cannot be behaving the same way
my question is therefore very simple - " If a network is applying speed limits to the transfers.....how come i have direct download speeds more than double the torrent download speeds???"
Again thanks in advance for any suggestions any person may have.
@ Digitaljunkie : Thanks i will look into that...
And recently i have noticed that my upload speed seems to stay on the higher side 30KBps unlike my download speed which as mentioned above rarely crosses 17KBps.....mind boggling paradox
Perhaps it's your ISP, who is your Internet Service Provider? Does the slow speed only happens when you downloading Torrents?

@ Digital Junkie : Yes, the slow speed happens only when i am downloading torrents. Everything in this problem points at the ISP. But isnt it Illegal for ISP's to look into contents of a user's packet other than security reasons...they would have to look into the content of user packets to see if the packets are from a torrent application or a normal one.
When a normal download occurs, does it occur from a standard port, say 80....which is the one for http??
P2P traffics provides certain patterns that are recognizable, your ISP can just analyse that. They don't have to know exactly what's in the packets!
