    Dr. Emmett Brown: Precisely.
Marty McFly: Whoa, this is heavy.
Dr. Emmett Brown: There's that word again; "heavy". Why are things so heavy in the future? Is there a problem with the earth's gravitational pull?

Try another media player and see if that also skips.

the problem is that you are using limewire, 1998s solution to how to get crappy files for free. ask your mom what she uses to get files, it's probably better than limewire

Yeah, you have to diagnose whether the skips are file related or computer related. Hunt for a skip, seek back a few seconds to see if that skip is in the exact same place in the song.

If the skips seem to move around to different places in the song, then it's your computer/player not able to play it decently (hence the solution of trying a different player)

If the skips are in the exact same place in the song, then it's a file related problem which is something you can only control by tracking down a different rip.

hmmm yeah it seems to be computer/player related cause when i go back after a skip it it wont skip in the same place again, i guess i just dont understand why lately limewire has been doing this, its never done it before.... and im kinda leery of using other music apps to find music cause well, once i start using something i like to just stick to it.

You don't have to use another p2p app, but rather, another player. Do you use WMP? Have you tried WinAmp Foobar2000 or VLC?

Limewire is one of the most heavily RIAA and MIAA monitored programs running.
I will stick with Bit Tornado.
As for media players I use a VLC media player.
Also what format are your audio files in?

The most likely problem is heavy disk access while music is playing and
the audio card either does not use DMA or the drives are hogging DMA
bandwidth, and thus, the whole bus.

One possible cure is to set the audio card's hardware interrupt to
either 4 or 3 depending on whether you have the standard serial ports
enabled. COM 1 and 3 use IRQ 4 and COM 2 and 4 use IRQ 3. Either one
will do if your audio hardware can be configured to use one of those
IRQs and you can free it from a com port or it is already free.

Even though IRQs and DMA ports aren't directly related, lower IRQs have
priority over higher ones and your drives are pretty low on that totem
pole at IRQ 14 and 15 even when they have the advantage with the DMA
    controller.

Another good possibility is audio card drivers. Newer ones tend to be
weaker performers due to music industry pressure to give DRM more
    control over hardware.
