Does anyone have any suggestions on how to configure ZoneAlarm Pro 3.0 to work w/ WinMX 3.1.
I have been running multiple searches on this subject and come up with nothing.
WinMX works perfectly when I shutdown ZoneAlarm but the second I turn it back on using it becomes a waste of time.
If anyone has the configuration settings as well as the steps on setting them up it would be greatly appreciated.
Unfortunately all I can tell you is make sure you allow the application to access the internet and act as a server. That's all I had to do to get ZA Pro 3.0 to work with WinMX (And pretty much anything else).
Also, make sure ZA allows WinMX to act as a server as well as access the internet. This way even if ZA is not properly ported, you can still run Winmx using ZA's lesser security settings.
what type of ports am i opening UDP etc.....
The easiest way to do this is in the ZoneAlarm Program Control Tab ensure you have four green checkmarks for WinMX. Then highlight WinMX Application and on the bottom right you will see Options when you click on that you will bring up the Ports screen, unless you want to play around ensure that you “Allow access to all ports and protocols”. WinMX should work without problems. If you want to play you can allow access to any range of ports or deny any range of ports to see what works. ZoneAlarm can tell you which ports the program is attempting to access.
I don't see the Options choice, is that in the free version (ZA 2.6)?
Then highlight WinMX Application and on the bottom right you will see Options

the "options" he is describing are only in the Pro version of ZA
if you want the Pro version look on Winmx or Kazaa you should have no problem finding it. or you can search the warez sites but it is a little trickier to get that way
