    Smile Trance Music

There's something about this track that I like.

(DJ Eco - Lost Angels [Breakfast Remix])

Of course, if vocal is your thing, I'd recommend giving this tune a whirl.

(Mark Pledger feat Melinda Gareh - Time Stands Still)

Armin Van Buuren, always on Sirius Area channel.

Lots of bass in the first track. The vocalist from Nightwish should do some vocals for trance, I'm sure she could do some scary hard music for the dance floor.

I know that you record your own tracks, do you make mixes of others music, or remix and edit others? Benny Benassi makes tracks, and also does mixes on Area. http://bennybenassi.com

Everyone is editing everyone now, that's why I wondered.

I like the Russian contingent: PPK, Bobina and Sveta. They have it all. Vocals. Hard Driving synthesizers and bass. And thought not quite Russian(maybe Estonian), check out the Trance Mix of Morandi's "Angles".

I think I finally have a chance to respond to this now that the database isn't so overloaded.

I've done a bunch of remixing of old video game music in the past. It's a really good way of learning how mixes are made in the first place - and even modifying the sound to find out what effect it has on the tune. In addition, it allows you to post something so you can get feedback on how well you've done.

I don't really do remixes that often anymore. I've stuck to more original stuff these days because it's important to be able to be original in many ways.

Making mixes like live sets is a really good way to advertise other artists in the genre. It's unfortunate that it requires a completely different skillset then actually producing, but it's a great asset in your DJ arsenal to mix others tunes.

Mixing, in general, is a really good way to create what DJs like to call a "scene". You can't really support a genre based off of one or two good tunes - you need a sort of "economy" of fans to pass around or else the local "scene" dies because it's too small.

I've personally done two live sets so far. I'd do more, but I'm limited with the kind of equipment I have at my disposal, so it's not that often I am able to do live mixing yet. Rather expensive to put it briefly. I have the library, but not the equipment. :frown:

I haven't done any mash-ups or "edits" of other people's tunes, but it's an interesting way to do what mixing and remixing does.

NOt a fan of (psy) trance. It just seems to build and build and never get anywhere.

Give me breaks / Dub(step) and D&B anyday.

Probably haven't found the right psy-trance tunes then. Give this song or this song a try. Some really good psy-trance out there.

I like Ozric! It's almost like those guys made their own genre of music. They start slow and quiet usually and then build up and up until the whole band is jamming hard with the guitar on top, those are their best songs I think.

You can use most any wave editor like Cool Edit or Adobe Audition, anything that will open the song in the format that you have. Lop off 16 beats at a time to keep the intro sounding right. I don't do that for personal listening, I just fast forward if I want to get to the meat of the song, but those intros can sound great on long blended mixes.

Dennis Sheperd - Left Of The World (Mike Shiver's Garden State Mix)

YouTube totally butchered the audio quality of the song in this case it seems, but been listening to this lately. Nice stuff I think.
