slow downloads with DSL???
I have been using winmx for a while with dialup and could DL a song in 25 to 30min. I just got DSL1500up/256down and it takes forever to DL IF it even does. I have XPpro with no router.
Also no other file sharing stuff. I can only make a secondary connection due to a TCP port issue??? I am new to DSL so you will have to excuse the hard to understand question. Thanks for any replies.:mellow
I also forgot to mention no firewalls.

You say you have 1500 up and 256 down, but I'm inclined to believe you have 1500 down and 256 up. 256kbs up translates into a pure 32KB/s upload, because you divide it by 8 to get the Bytes. If you totally max out your upload then it will slow down your download, so it is good to limit it to 80% or so. Try setting your maximum upload to 25000 in your WinMX settings, and also see if you have any restrictions on your download, as you should probably leave that unchecked.
I would guess that your download is slow because the person who is uploading to you is slow.
