no i mean the new compression codec

This one is an improvement on mpeg-4 its by a company called videolocus i think and its supposed to offer greater improvement in quality like dvd res 720 by 480 at 1 mbps It should have its final specs this month

HOLYCRAP, that high of res at one megabit persecond??
Sounds good, but as it is i can already stream a full leangth DivX movie (700+ megs) With my current connection.

And i hate as of late all the new codecs etc trying to become the next DivX, Just Muddying the waters if you ask me.

But, i hope they succeed in their goals :gj

i agree, the sheer amount of codecs and figuring out which are the best makes it confusing for people who know have an avg knowledge about codecs and dont know what they are doing

I have serveral mpeg-4 codec files, one of them is just a Morning Musume video. If you use Gspot or AVIcodec long enough, you will run in to them, or, if you have to get a codec to play them to begin with. Gspot will tell you that the video stream is 1Mb/s +, and the audio another 44 or 196k, varying.

I find that a lot of japanese files are that way, very large file sizes, possibly more than is needed for teen videos. It is still subject to the same problems as other Mpgs are, if the encoder (person) doesnt understand the differences between interlacing and de-interlacing. You still have a vey high quality video with jagged lines.
