Post Recommend me an FTP dump site?

Are there ways in which I can swap files with someone via FTP other than using a seedbox and provide him or he with my FTP address and details?

I have looked into CuteFTP Pro but I tried it once some time ago and my 30 day limit expired and it won't let me use another trial period. I only have a 7MB line and I do not have a static IP so am wondering what options I have?

Any help will be gratefully appreciated!

    There are so many alternatives...

    Easiest but not fastest:

    Skype

If you both use skype you can simply drop the file in your friends name in skype and he can download the file directly from you.
Not so good for large files or many files because of the time it takes.

    Easy but not the best:

    Filehosts like Rapidshare etc

www.mediafire.com and all other free file hosts that allow you to upload, and then share a link to the download.
Not good for larger files as they often have limitations unless you get a premium account.

    Great but not fastest:

    uTorrent

In lastest version of uTorrent there is a drag and drop square by the lower left corner that allows you to create a torrent quickly by just dropping the file on the box.

Handy but of course not faster then your upload.

    Probably fastest.

Use FTP as you already did but use a free FTP client

    http://filezilla-project.org/

    A great free FTP client.

You know how to use it so enjoy!

A different idea. I had it on my PC and it worked well. You can read about it and, if your OS exceeds XP, download via Softonic.com (Google civil netizen). It works on Windows and Mac but I'm not sure how far development is progressing.

It helps overcome slowness with internet connections and seems very secure. Might be worth experimenting with something not too important.

I used Core FTP but Filezilla (as mentioned above) is better and I believe a little faster. I use latter almost every day.

It reminded me of this service

    dropbox.com

its only for smaller files unless you upgrade from free version to "plus" but its very handy and stores your files on their server so that you can access them from anywhere :)

edit: I just installed dropbox on my mobile phone to check how that works and it works very well! Great to be able to keep backups of important stuff on the phone as well as read and edit documents.

i just can't fanboi dropbox enough. free users get a measly 2gigs, but being a lifelong and strictly principled cheapskate, i've abused the referral system to get me 12gigs so far :D

all this reminds me, i should spam my referrals this weekend...

hehe I hear ya, and thats why I was sneaky and changed it to my referal link above lol :P

I agree that dropbox free account 2 gb's and the files size limit of files you can transfer are low but for documents like excell or word etc its really handy. To have them stored on a third party server is defenitely a very safe way of backing up your files, and to be able to access them from any internet connection anywhere in the world is just awesome.
