Up until a week ago, I used Shareaza to download large multimedia files from torrent sites and I just downloaded small freeware files from various sites to a download folder without any diffulty. I used J-Zip to extract them later on. Now suddenly, whenever I try to download small zip or exe files from freeware sites, a Shareaza box pops up and asks if I want to authorize the download. I never get a Vista window so I can indicate where to place the file. I have not changed any default settings and cannot figure out how to keep this from happening. If I authorize the download, Shareaza goes through the usual search for a file by that name and indicates how many sources, etc, even though I have already found the file and don't need Shareaza for the download at all. Does anyone know how to correct this? What settings can I change? Any help will be appreciated. I just joined this group so I could figure these kind of things out and understand file sharing better.
Are you sure you have downloaded the official shareaza. Shareaza.com was hijacked by the copyright cartels cronies in an elaborate ploy to shut down the opensource project. The official site is now http://shareaza.sourceforge.net/ . Your update may have also screwed you over, so if you think you have the fake have fun with removing it, its apparently a pain.

I had the same problem with Shareaza (the latest release 2.5.2.0 from February 2010). This was on Windows 7, and it was definitely not the shareaza fake that I installed. I finally uninstalled Shareaza, thinking it was an incompatibility issue with that WIndows 7. If anyone knows a solution, I would like to hear it too.
