I'm using the regular Limewire and I saw it had alot of "Support Gnutella, Support Limewire" Ads. So I was wondering if Limewire contained Spyware. If it does, Is there a clone of it that doesn't contain Spyware?
Yodashady Gang!
Yes there is a program named aqualime which is a clean version of limewire u could get it here http://www.infosprite.com/aqualime/dl/AquaLime285b.exe
Or you could get the small 1.20 mb version of Limewire, called Freewire. You have to pay attention to the installer though, since you must opt out of spyware so as not to get it.

Freewire bundles in crap too at least with the offical program if you install the ad programs you at least support people who actually help the network and arent in it to help their wallet like freewire..
Aqualime is better than freewire.
ya the best choice is aqualime.
Limwire does not contain Spyware. It includes the adware: BonziBuddy, LimeShop,_NetFlip,_and FiveRoseCasino.
Just get Spybot S&D from http://security.kolla.de
That way, if it does containg adware/spyware, you shouldnt care, spybot takes care of it, and doesnt blink twice

Still, active installers are evil.FreeWire's 133Kb download file is an "active installer", meaning that you must remain connected to the Internet while you run it. It will download and install the necessary components based on your system setup. Download sizes vary from 1.8MB to 10MB, depending on required files.
I've chopped down AL to under 3 MB.. still a bit larger than Freewire's minimum. Skins do that. Working on a minimal version with no skinning now (not even with the default LimeWire look) It's at 2.5 MB now, but if I drop support for Java 1.3, it could go lower. Also have a patch for it that lets it run on java 1.2.2 :)
