    Avast Antivirus Has Gone Mad

According to users, the application has suddenly decided to flag many safe applications, freshly-downloaded files and dlls as malicious, wreaking havoc on user systems.

It appears that the program is flagging a number of files used by entirely normal programs such as Skype, Spybot Search and Destroy and other programs incorrectly as the Win32:Delf-MZG trojan.

    Full Story

I thought I had a virus last night on my laptop. I ended up uninstalling Avast. It just went off the map, flagging everything from my firewall to my soundcard driver.

So far, I've had it flag my no-cd hack for Borderlands (it stopped, thank goodness), HFS, PSPdisplay app, and I think there was something related to my Freelancer server it didn't like too, but I can't remember if I was just messing around with it while one of those other things popped up.

So far my copy of Avast hasn't flagged anything. Is this an issue with all versions?

does not sound like a fix more than it sounds like a way to manually tell the program what is and is not a virus.

An actaul fix would be to update the software with a patch so it didnt act so damn stupid to begin with

Reading the steps, it looks like it was fixed. They have you update your definitions before restoring the files.

I do like Nod32, but I can't be bothered to pirate it.

Same. The key does not last either. It was once an excellent choice, but the key expires too quickly.
