I have a computer out in the living room (running Vista 64 bit). There are 4 hard drives inside setup on a RAID 0. The total amount of storage comes out to be about 5.5TB total. I have the letter drive set to R
I share the "R Drive" as \\Desktop2\RDrive
Now I go to my other computer in the bedroom (running Windows 7 64 bit) and I want it to pick-up this RDrive so I can start storing all my media on it. However, every time I try to connect to it, it says Windows cannot access \\Desktop2\RDrive You do not have permission, contact your admin to request access
Will it not connect to this drive because it's multiple hard drives setup on a RAID? I have a stand-alone 500GB hard drive in the living room computer and the bedroom computer can connect just fine to it and open files, etc.
Any ideas why my "R Drive" won't connect in the bedroom?
Thanks!

like MR said, has to be something to do with permissions, NAS servers are usually set up in RAID too so that should not be an issue.
didn't you have the same issue once before? if you have configured different user accounts(different user name and password) on the two machines, you may have to connect using credentials from your living room box. let us know.
I vote credentials too. Win7 networking is a snap........ with other win7 pcs. With any other flavor its a pita and you have to set up credentials for each share.
My 2 win7 setups are so linked up its like they are on the same box, but setting up to share with my vista setup and my 3 xps was an hours long headache.
Nobody can start over and make a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.
You might want to check the securities tab under properties when you right click a folder or drive, there are all kinds of file permission settings listed in there in relation to users and groups.

what you need to do is right click on the drive on its parent PC and select properties and then click security.
highlight "Everyone" and then click "edit"
make sure all the boxes are checked (full control, modify ect)and then hit
"apply"
for some reason when you set a drive to share in vista it sets it with the highest security settings possible because as we all know when you share a drive you only want yourself to access it from the host machine (rolls eyes) good old microsoft :)
This should fix your problems.
There is additional steps to take if this also fails but works 99% of the time. If not post back and let us know and I can help you with the rest
