Holy crap.
The student special price for Windows 7 is 30 bucks.
I'm tempted to check it out, really.
Is it worth 30 bucks?

Definitely. See my review.
And if you decide to check it out, a little checkbox on the order page upgrades your order from Home premium to Professional for the same price.
Too lazy to Google? No problem.
Let me google that for you!

I'm just disappointed they only let you get 1 copy. But my father might be looking to upgrade 2 machines, so he may get the 3 pack.

SHIT KNOCKERS! Just found out I'll be able to get Windows 7 for free, so I paid for the software for no reason. Stupid school and their lack of speed in getting the information out.

How does this work? Do you download the iso and then burn it or does it install from some remote site. I'm wondering if I'm going to be able to have a physical disk to use whenever I decide to do the install.
Has anyone done this?
For Win7, the Ultimate disk will install the entire OS with only the cd key differentiating what versions and ultimately, what features you get. If you want to use their iso you can download it from the site and burn it, but any RTM version will work. The ones pre-cracked won't, obviously because the key is slipstreamed in. A third option is to pay $14 for a physical dvd which is completely unneccesary.

I had checked to see if my department had a MSDNAA and they didn't, only civil and comp sci at my school do, as well as various clubs. Now all of a sudden, they email me saying they are getting a free offer for engineering students, but they don't have the details yet. I'm just pissed off my school was a little late on the announcement.

Great... I paid $140 bucks for OEM 7 Pro... I'm not a student but I could have gotten in this way easily... oh well... another couple of bucks for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.:disappointed:

I am waiting for that ATA 40 pin adapter [ I posted link in another thread for your info ] that will let me put two flash cards in my hard drive slot that I ordered from Ebay and then after slapping that thing in my test PC I am gonna instal Windows 7 and see how fast that old PC pimps itself! I hope it rocks out because I am gonna show it off hard and laugh... or be laughed at! lol
I can't wait to play!!!!
I will post test results for any people who would like a cheap way to make their PC perform like a cutting edge machine for a few bucks. ( if it work! Fingers crossed! ) I am wondering if I can sell these machines for big bucks once I start demo'ing how fast they can perform with this kind of tech inside. I may try it.
