Watched the first 20 minutes so far, Dawkins doesn't come across as well as he normally does, he seemed quite irate.
So far the worst argument has come from the bishop. He panders to tradition and the status quo rather than reasoning for why the rules in place should remain. He has given me the same argument given to me as to why I shouldn't have abandoned my faith, and is clearly a fallacious argument. The funniest is when he is called out he clearly indicates that there are issues, but then backpedals with no real reasoning other than tradition.
The most level headed religious figure in the debate was the Sikh. Which seemed much more accepting of others and secularism than the religions known for the hard line and ideological stances.

My ring in the whole schmackle is this: there is absolutely no reason why private schools should not be allowed by the state to be faith-based schools.
Sure, I've been linking Dawkins here and there, but to be honest I don't totally agree with the aggressive atheist notion.
I do, however, believe that faith-based teaching belongs in the home, church, or private schools selected by the parent.
No good Catholic should be corrupted by Baptist thought in public schools.
Oh, and teach evolution.

Probably true.
And private schools in the US probably receive a decent amount of stipends from public funds as well. But I think vs public school funding it's fractional, and not really worth the time to bitch about, unless you are like some kind of fiscally conservative atheist or something...
