I am a Guy Ritchie fan or at least a BIG fan of his first two movies while the rest have been of the "meh" caliber but when I read he was to direct a movie based on the Lobo comic series I said "FUCK YEAH" to myself as I am all alone in my house except for my pet cat Boo-Boo. Boo-Boo is a nice pussy. Anyways, on with the story....

Guy Ritchie To Direct ‘Lobo’ Film

Guy Ritchie will be teaming up again with Sherlock Holmes producer Joel Silver for the film debut of comic book character Lobo. Don Payne (4: Rise of the Silver Surfer, My Super-Ex Girlfriend) is writing.
Variety has the story -
Production on Lobo begins early next year. The character originated in 1983 in Omega Men, written by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen. Lobo has had several comic incarnations. In the film, he is a seven-foot tall, blue-skinned, indestructible and heavily muscled anti-hero who drives a pimped out motorcycle, and lands on Earth in search of four fugitives who are bent on wreaking havoc. Lobo teams with a small town teenaged girl to stop the creatures.
WB is aiming for a PG-13 rating. Pic will be strong on visual effects, and Ritchie will bring the irreverent, gruff tone of past films like Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
This quote suggests that the film will not include the excessive violence of the source material and will instead tone down in order to receive a lower age rating. Surely Ritchie isn’t the kind of guy to let himself be a studio bitch, but you never know. After all, this and Sherlock signal Ritchie’s entry into the Hollywood mainstream and away from any sort of indie/cult credibility.
It’s hard to gauge how good Lobo and Sherlock Holmes will be as up until now Ritchie has only directed stuff he’s written, and in one particular style. When he last strayed from his safe zone with Swept Away it was an all-round disaster. Both of these projects call for something different.
