    weird item showing on toolbar..

....Hope someone out there can help me...
A minor annoyance...I run win98se. For the past month or so when my screen saver has been activated and I come back to the computer and re-awaken it....now 2 'boxes' appear on the taskbar(just to the right of Start)...1 says Sceen Saver and the other is blank. Sometimes I get 1 or the other ...other times both. No apparent pattern.
I can get rid of them manually by clicking on them..but where did they come from...how do I get rid of them?? Any help would be appreciated !! :shy

....thanks zebi for the quick reply...yeah, I'm sure it's not dangerous..just annoying....but my concern is why did it just start happening in the last month?? ...why is one of the 'boxes' blank?? why the random pattern??-sometimes 1 ...sometimes both...and what can I do to get rid of them??.
The Screen Saver 'box' shouldn't still show in the tray..once I re-awake the computer.
Right clicking does nothing (no properties etc). I have to double click a few times to delete them manually.
(btw...I haven't changed my computers configuration at all..and all applications running are accounted for in the tray.)

I imagine you can just right click on the empty spaces and just hit close, that should do it, and if it doesn't work, try opening up you Program Manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL) and seeing if anything there is running that has to do with you're screen saver.

I got that with Windows ME as well. Do yourself a favor and upgrade that damn OS. Windows 2k pro is what I recommend for people who don't have the computer power needed to use XP pro... otherwise go wtih XP, it's more user friendly (not that 2k has any really big differences).

@ Moon Man..upgrading anything will usually always solve some problems ..but will always bring about others. XP is too intrusive for me. Win98se is still a pretty stable platform.

@Koffee Bean...I opened up the program manager(before posting this)..nothing unusual listed...and as I said: I CAN'T RIGHT CLICK ON THE BOXES TO GET THEM TO DISAPPEAR...only by (left) double clicking a few times will they go away. hmm

I have plenty of memory: 364mg pentIII running 766mghz..all applications accounted for...etc...still one or the other or both boxes keep showing up in the tray after the screensaver has been deactivated(computer awakened) THIS JUST STARTED HAPPENING IN THE PAST MONTH.

    anyone else?? Thx.

Hmmm, now that you mention it I noticed I did stop having that problem (empty boxes appearing on taskbar) when got Windows 2k to replace Windows ME. Of course that was least of the problems I was having with ME which an entire new can of worms which I will not open here.
Back to the topic I just clicked on boxes a few times and they would go away. I never really went beyond that to try figure out how to stop it.
