setting classic SNL aside in the past 5 or so years who has week to week kicked more funny bone ass?

personally I hate SNL these days and even the best old school guest returns can't save it

btw is it just me or does that fat black dude from the 90's nick news crap on cable make you wanna face plant inta a bucket of aids infected glass every time he tries to impersonate *anyone* or pull improv?

meh least he's better than steve martin's sellout ass

I just saw about 5 minutes of SNL and it was just pathetic. The writing was outdated and I realized that perhaps they should put this old dog out. It has served its time. MadTV is alright and I would say currently much better than SNL. It also has lost some of its quality and creative style.

SNL has had some of its highest rating in years so its not going anywhere. I still watch it although it is painful at times. MADTV I like but its been a dead dog for years. It had its good days but seemed to have lost something along the way ( Good Members )

The Kenean SNL guy, however you spell it, is perticuallerly bad. I have no idea why they keep him as the token black guy. Every character he plays is aweful.

    Spud. Is. This. Better?

I managed a full SNL viewing couple weeks ago and I still can't wash the shame off

with Mad it seems all that 'movie' chain crap the latest mad femmy crew did is what killed much of it's peppery flavor (parker, ardin, ect)

like I remember after seeing that 'snaggers'(they used I on madtv) candy bar commmercial bit sober as hell laughing so hard I almost crapped myself and I never get all that hyped over skit comedy

those eharmony ones recently...same deal I just busted into giggle fits

I mean god damn the gay guy puking when the chick tries to kiss 'em and the chimp or wtf ever lol that one was even better after that ape rips chicks face off news

off topic- love the avatar mel....

edit- bleh forgot the 3 minute meal chick...god damn it's great watching her snap while losing fingertips 'n teeth

I downloaded and watched the last SNL with Seth Rogan and I just knew this one would have to be funny as Hell. It wasn't. IT WAS HORRIBLE! Worst one I have seen since the early 80's cast...and thats BAD BAD BAD! SNL has lost some key members over the last few years but now that Amy Poehler left to do her own show the show has lost its legs. Perhaps it will take awhile for the new members and cast to gel and get the funny back as it often does with radical change. I hope they get it together soon. The show did have a few stars that have been around and paid their dues. Amy was one of those people. She was on Upright Citizens Brigade for Christs sake! Her partner,Tina Fey, is a GREAT writer. Tina has actually got her acting chops together as well. She use to be awful. She was unconfident and awkward on camera but she has now conquered her fears and does a fine job on her own TV show.

SNL is gonna be really bad this season but its not going anywhere. NBC will put money behind this late night giant and get it turned around. Its meant to be juvenile comedy fun so over analyzing it is pointless. Its job is to make stone college kids laugh and that is a pretty easy thing to do most of the time.

I will double post now! Seasons 30, 31 and 32 were pretty good actually. I really liked the Justin Timberlake episodes. The "Dick in a Box" skit is classic and I love the skits where he dresses up as a street dancer collecting money for charity. That shit is hilarious. I think Justine Timberlake is a very underrated actor and will go on to do some great work later in his life.

    Dick In A Box

    Jizz In My Pants

I just found that one. Its okay I guess

    Homlessville

This is the only one I could find in the series but for some reason I find these skits too funny for words. He just acts so silly.

I have the entire seasons of 3 and 4 plus almost every episode since season 30. I collect SNL episodes like its a hobby. I wish I could get all the episodes from the Adam Sandler years. Its hard to find those. I mostly have just the "Best of" Episodes from that era. I noticed E! is showing re-runs of SNL. I don't know how old the episodes are they are showing but if theyre showing the old ones it would be a great time to cap them. I wish they could be captured in the original way they were aired because the edited versions that are released lose a bit of something that is hard to describe. They cut little bits out here and there. That is one big reason I grab every episode that is posted because even if they release them on DVD they will not include the entire show the way it aired. Grab em and share em!

I should try collecting them too. My MST3K collection took 2 years to complete. This was before torrents though.

Are they of good quality? Most of the ones I have found are terrible. I ended up deleting most of them.

completely depends on the episode. Some are absolutely terrible. I found it's best to watch them on my PSP, because shrinking it down makes the blemishes less noticeable, and you can put the movie into fast-play because a lot of those movies are so bad even the comments don't make it watchable.

for me SNL has always been hit 'n miss ep to ep as if some PC douchebag pulled that standard 'hmmm ya see guys NBC doesn't really wish to go there just yet' with the yet being never

madtv has been guilty of it too but seeing as its 30+ vs 14 seasons the ratio is probably in favor of SNL

but SNL stopped taking those major PC risks once NYC started cleaning up it's pimp 'n peepshow act in the 80's so you saw more slapstick and less stir the shit state the obvious social/political comedy

god bless BT tho lol if only more folks had snagged the 1st gen huppie brand HD cards that groups still use to rip OTA 'n cable TS streams we'd prolly have more of these classic reruns in something more than vhs or 90's era analog 320x240 'n shit

edit - quick search for largest tv torrent netted me some 130 some gig Cops one with eps dating back to the 80's so theres still hope someone has capped or will dig up old SNL tapes for ya mel

I watched about 30 minutes of it last week when they had Alec Baldwin on..... it was terrible. Sometimes the shit is funny because it's bad.... but this went beyond that.... it was absolutely stupid. NBC tries to hard not to offend. You won't see anything like Mr. Robinson's neighborhood ever again.

for sure NBC as a OTA station even DTV is downsizing

they've cut all the 30+ year technical guys in favor of 20 somethings with major credit to get off their asses for half the pay or less

they've also started a program switching everything from netstations to broadcast systems to linux to cut costs further so safety is their best bet to stay alive

anyone watch the last madtv? 14x15 I think

it seems they knew in advance and let shit fly with some of the skits past few eps

hope some cable station picks it up...hbo would fit the sick bastards on that writing staff well even comedy central would be sweet

Anyone see "The Underground" with Damon Wayans? It was AWFUL!!!! It was no Living Color as Damon claimed. After 10 shows Showtime had the good sense to cut off the funds for this POS. Worst comedy show I think I have ever seen with such high profile comedy stars.

Anyone remember Fridays? One of the great skit shows.

One of my favorite shows, although its unlike the regular skit shows on this list is "The Upright Citizens Brigade"! Only three seasons but every show is a classic and some deserve some type of special award for being LOL from start to finish. It pulls an 8.8 on IMDB and thats hard to do! UCB needs more recognition and if you haven't seen it do yourself a favor and check it out. Its still not out on DVD so downloading old VHS rips is all you can get...well worth suffering thought the quality though. Please check it out! We need to demand the DVD set. BTW, each season has a running joke the entire season too. Its always the pay off in the final show. Pretty cool.
