Steam, what digital stores should be

Am I crazy or is Steam an excellent example of what an online digital retailer should be. They have good connection speeds, great deals and rarely if ever charge the same for online content than what a hard copy would cost. It seems every weekend they have a new deal I just can't pass up. For example, I just bought Beyond Good and Evil, FarCry, FarCry2, Dark Messiah Might and Magic and Il-2 Stromovik for 25$ A couple weeks ago I got unreal tournament 3 for 10$. Just off of steam I've bought 12 games in the last year. Think in total I spent less than 100$ for all the games. Am I the only one snapping up these deals? How the hell do they keep the service up with the amount of bandwidth they must be burning?

The only thing that keeps me from buying things on steam is the lack of an optional box and disk. I love to collect my games, and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay for a game that I can't hold in my hand. Other than that, I love the service and the sales. It keeps me drooling over them even if I won't buy them.
Here's Britney Spears' private jet... The gulf stream 3 doesn't even have a remote control for its surround sound DVD system. Still think downloading music for free isn't a big deal?

Used to be a big fan of having the box, hell I still have my Space quest 4 CD, but with the kinds of discounts they show I just can't resist. The only thing that worries me is if the company went under what would happen to all the games you bought. But considering that its Steam and they sell hit after hit I'm a little less concerned about that fact. Worse case scenario the games I haven't beaten yet and still wanna play I would just get off a torrent.

I think that if I was paying no more than $10, $15 tops for a game, I might be able to let it go. As it is, I'm still super pissed almost a year later that my copy of Mass Effect will expire if I reinstall it too many times. I can't stand the fact of steam that not only do I lack a trophy for my purchase, but there is a (slim) chance that the money I spent could be permanently lost.

Personal rants aside, I still think that Steam is the best thing for the future, and I just wish they would optionally mail me a disk and box at an extra charge.

I agree it would be a nice feature, maybe it will be a future option.
