How many trackers do you actively belong to?

How many trackers do you think is too many? I think 2 or 3 is a good amount. I currently belong to 9 because I am trying to build some credit in the private tracker world.

I must use about 12-15 on a regular basis. Be careful if you use a lot to use different names in case one gets compromised or you need to engage in dubious activity.

Thanks for the advice! How often would you say accounts get hacked on private trackers? What is the normal outcome (IP ban, email ban, etc.)?

I was on a tracker once that was hacked from the inside and a few accounts were stolen.

I think the whole members only frenzy is a bit silly in some aspects. In my opinion people should stop being very greedy and find a few sites and stick with those and here are my reasons why. Most people will find that they need a few differnt memberships because there are sites that specialize in certain types of content and then there are the site that offer everything. If a person finds a "members only" site that covers everything and its turns out to be a good site, I think that person should stick with that one site because it will allow a member to share a decent amount of content with the members of that site while also being able to obtain good content themselves. When a person spreads their self too thin over a large number of sites often their ratio will start to slip and that is bad for the BT community.

And then there are the "members only" site that cater to specific content. Its good to have a few of these you like and support if you are a fan of the type of content these sites offer. Sharing with people who like the same thing as yourself can be fun and rewarding. Again, if a person tries to obtain too many memberships of these type trackers they often leave other members cheated or clog up the allowed members quota which can also cheat the members because someone who has great content to share may not be able to become a member because some people were greedy and tried to get onto every tracker, even ones they do not even care about because they are scared they might miss something.

Chances are most trackers are gonna have the same content so find a community you like and support them. We should all be considerate of our other file sharing brothers and keep the communities alive and healthy by being a responsible torrent site member.

I agree with you in regards to needing just a few memberships. I tend to think that a specialized tracker would be better if you are looking for specialized content. I would think that the "We have everything" trackers would have to end up purging content every so often just due to space limitations, whereas specialized sites could keep more available for a longer period of time. I don't down people for having 20 or 30 accounts. That is their prerogative, just not my style.

As for hogging memberships even on sites that you don't care about, I always message the admin and ask that my account be deleted if I find that the site does not serve my needs for whatever reason. I would think that would free up some tracker registrations and make for a better community on those trackers if everyone did that.

That's smart. The more the merrier is not the way to look at private tracker accounts. If you can find two or three that satisfy your needs and you remain active there it benefits everyone. Remaining active is the main thing, keep torrents alive for your fellow mates to enjoy.

I'm on around 10, because specialty trackers add up. General tracker, British TV, sports, goofy movies, maybe an MMA tracker, porn, not to mention sites that have things that other places don't have, and it adds up. It's easy for Mels_Smileys45 to have only 1 ; being from West Tennessee, that's all he needs. :drunken_s

How many trackers you need depends on what you need and where you belong.

Does anyone need more then 1 0 day tracker? Probably not...
But with specialized sites, its possible to have (and need) a lot of trackers, 1 for each category:
    Games
    TV
    HD
    Movies
    Apps
    Mac
    Learning/Ebooks
    Music

Not sure how many trackers I belong to anymore, but I use probably 5 of them on a semi regular basis and most likely have at least one thing seeding for each of them right now.

Belong to 3 right now but I'm having issues seeding so I'll top asking for invites temporarily until I can resolve my issue.
