Order Vista Ultimate 64bit Upgrade Backup CD?

So I need to order a backup disc of Windows Vista 64bit Ultimate Upgrade.

I swear when I was looking on Microsoft's website (I can't remember which one, maybe it was their Marketplace site) I thought you could order a backup disk to reinstall vista for like $16.

I have my own serial for Vista because I bought the Vistat Ultimate Upgrade software thru Digital Locker back in 2007 and I downloaded the software and never got a backup disk (i didn't order one.)

Is this still possible? Can someone please direct me to the correct page if you know what I'm talking about! I've been looking and looking and can't find it!!

I have a new computer with Vista Home Premium on it and I would like to pop in a disk so I can upgrade it to my vista 64bit ultimate edition! (I can't just redownload the software from digital locker because that is the 32bit version I bought back in 2007 =( Hence this is why I'm trying to order 64bit ultimate upgrade disc without purchasing vista all over again =)

    Thanks,
    PM572

couldn't you just download the vista ultimate 64 edition image file from any site (torrent) and burn your own copy? since you have a valid license key of your own, don't see how it should be a problem.

That won't work weiner. He needs the exact OEM version with the right service pack and everything. The only shot is to email the company and get a redownload.
Too lazy to Google? No problem.
Let me google that for you!

well, with what he's trying, there's no real way to go the legit route. he want's to upgrade his new system to vista ultimate for free. i threw him a line, he'll have to work around it or stick with what he has.

Yeah he's better off just pirating a vista ultimate x64 and installing it over the home. You shouldn't have any problems unless the copy is poorly cracked.

Well I did search bittorrent sites for Vista Ultimate edition but I always came accross FULL versions. My legit serial key is for upgrade version only! If I try to use the serial on a full version, Microsoft comes back and tells me I can't do this.

Well I did download a copy somewhere from the internet last night. I will try it out tonight after work. It said the copy was untouched and you can use it as an upgrade disc and not a full reinstall (so we will see).

But in the mean time if anyone does know where to buy a legit reinstall Vista Ultimate upgrade disc, please tell. I would like to have a copy for my records even if I have to pay the $15 or whatever it is!

He just needs to match up type and retail vs oem.

I worked on a laptop with xp home (no sp) from Gateway.
I downloaded the newest xp home sp3 OEM (since it was big box name gateway brand)
    used his key
    activated without a hitch.

As long as you match up the correct version exactly (sp doesn't matter) then you'll be fine.

Edit, just saw last post. Oh well, didn't know it was upgrade. Not sure what to say on that one :\

Unless you're using it at a computer at work, why does having a legit copy matter? Don't use your serial key at all.

Do you still have your email receipt with the license key, order ID and so on? If so, why not just contact them? I'm not sure if they have some sort of time-frame policy for ordering a backup disc, which there really shouldn't be considering you're a legit customer.

If they screw you (no backup disc / no activation key / no download), just :icon_pira it.

What kind of computer is it by the way?
If its a big brand, try to find some one else who has the same brand (not model, just brand: dell, gateway, etc) computer. If they have the restore disk for vista, it will install without a key needed, so long as the brands match.
