Connecting new macbook to my stereo

Hi recently bought the new macbook and was wondering what cable i need to hook it up with my stereo. Both have headphone sockets what cable should I get?

    Someone emailed this to me:

o make this connection you will need to plug the headphone socket on your macbook in to an input on your stereo. Stereo inputs are usually either 3.5mm (same as the headphone socket) in which case you would require a 3.5mm to 3.5mm stereo cable which you can find at: http://www.cable-trader.co.uk/category.php?cat=279

or your stereo inputs may be twin phono (red & white ports) which would mean you would require a 3.5mm stereo to twin phono cable which you can find at:
    http://www.cable-trader.co.uk/category.php?cat=280

I hope that helps, but please feel free to ask any further questions

but which of these cables should i get?

    Umm.....no brainer.

Which of these are on your Mac and which are on your stereo?

The square will never fit in the circular hole.

Unless I'm mistaken Macbook's allow digital out through a mini toslink. At least new ones do, not sure about the old ones. Mini toslinks on the Macbooks work through the same slot as your headphones or speakers. If your receiver supports this format use it, most receivers have them, usually called optical in.

They deliver to Canada, and they do take some international orders... Can't seem to find any information on where they ship listed on their website. Sadly I don't know of any other good cable retailers, you will have to do some digging I guess.

If you go to the Macbook page, tech specs, and under audio you have this written.

Combined optical digital output/analog line out (minijack)

Its a combined analogue/digital mini port. So to use it you need a mini toslink to full size toslink. Could be wrong, but thats what I understand. Seems like its a system mainly used by Apple.
