Wink Mel's Prediction Already Coming True (ISP Market Slows)(CBC)

Fading growth seen in telecom industry as consumers dial back

TORONTO - Canada's telecommunications industry is growing at its slowest pace in more than a decade as economic uncertainty affects consumer spending on its services, the Conference Board of Canada says.

The Ottawa-based think-tank predicts a tougher telecom climate in the short term, with annual growth of about 2.3 per cent for this year and in 2009.

That would still outpace the Canadian economy as a whole, but would be far below the double-digit percentage expansion the industry enjoyed throughout most of the decade, thanks to wireless and Internet growth.

Factors expected to weigh on growth include the fading economy and heightened price competition, while the conventional residential phone and long-distance businesses remain in long-term decline.

Mel, you're prediction is coming true.

Something that always annoyed me is why should industries indefinitely expand. Is their not a point where new customers are non existent? Sometimes I feel too much pressure is placed on companies to expand, when sometimes it should simply try and improve its current functions.

Was he not talking about spending more time on another forum? He basically dumped us for a younger, shinier, and less tarded forum.

That's corporate logic and pleasing stock holders for you. Even world domination is not enough. Being in the black? Only if it doubles every quarter.
