How many people here have a Wii? I notice there is very little action in this section, so I want to see if I can spice it up a little bit.
I don't own a Wii, but I hear that you should work your way up as opposed to going all out on the system. If you don't, you'll get some really sore arms from playing, say, Wii Boxing.

I don't own one either. I did play the bowling game with a group of co-workers recently on our 60" plasma. Good times.
I have one. Received it as a Christmas gift last year.

I own a Wii and I find it to be the embodiment of everything that is wrong with the gaming industry these days. Devs just do not try when they make their games. No sense of pride what-so-ever in their work. I think the Wii as a system is great, but there isn't much good software on it because no one puts the effort into making good games for it.
Granted, Nintendo makes some great games, but I'm looking at the 3rd party devs. Their failures are so bad that they have diluted anything good from Nintendo.
I broke down, I'm going to get one & a PS3 this year! :)

I think wii is good system added to the gaming world. Yes, the software might be in its infant stage and I'm sure it will get better. but at least with wii you burn some calories. Unlike other systems kids just set on their ass playing 6-12 hours cause their parents don't give a fuck..."O will just let the PS2 watch the kids" instead of going out side and playing with them, or doing something active. and wonder why they have heath problems. My kids each get 1 hour of game time.
Alright! Nice to see that there are people out there with the same view on it as me. Yes, it is a great console and there are definitely a number of advantages to owning one. It is the only current generation console capable of running unsigned code (or homebrew as it is more often referred to ) without the need for opening it up and soldering a chip. As a "scene" coder, this alone is a major selling point, but Nintendo would like to make you believe otherwise, as if you dig deep enough, you can find a way to run copied games on it ( via homebrew ).
As for the games, there are some good ones, and then there are alot of bad ones. Now, as the console is still somewhat in it's infancy, and Nintendo is now starting to look at who they give a license too, we should see this start to change.
Now, my next question(s) is: Does anyone else here run homebrew? Is there anyone who want's to know about homebrew? I am very experienced and will help anyone who want's to know.
Wii would be nice if Nintendo stopped recycling decade old games and started innovating
No Homebrew. I will not modify my one and only current gen console.

No games will be unavailable and you will still be able to do everything you do regularily without voiding any warranties. You don't change anything about the Wii at all.
I speak with experience, as I have 3 Wii's, all running homebrew. They all work fine and I have access to all the virtual console games plus more via means of emulators. Plus, if you buy import games, you can play them on any Wii (NTSC-U, PAL, NTSC-J) without the need of a modchip, or an old Wii that can use Datel's Freeloader (Nintendo blocked it's use in a firmware upgrade.)
All I can say is as of this moment, the only negative effect of homebrew is that you have to set it up to use it, not like the Dreamcast that worked like that out of the box.
I still say if anyone is interested, let me know. If enough interest is generated, I can create tutorials to be used by everyone.
@Excrement Cranium:
It is the only one of the 3 that is fully able to run homebrew, while taking advantage of all of the hardware and system resources. The 360 has the XNA, but you are still bound to M$ limits and have to pay a membership fee. The closest a PS3 has come is some java games being made to run through the browser. Even a PS3 running yellow dog linux is not as powerful of a machine, and I challenge someone to prove me wrong! (talking about system accessibility under non-official operations, not hardware specs)
I have a wii. Its not running homebrew, I have an xbox for that and it probably plays more anyway.
Wii is great, but not the best. It gets old pretty fast if you play it daily...
But its different, and that gives it a lot of weight in these days where everything is the same.
I play marble mania, wii sports, zelda, and mario the most. Any tips on other great games?
