FL Studio - Exploiting the Power of the 3x Osc

Hardcore music. Playing with the 3x osc.

I've lost track at how many times I've seen people suggest that the 3x osc (a plug-in that comes prepacked with FL Studio) is little more than a n00b tool. I've been able to make a huge number of unique sounds with that thing. 8Bit Warrior, for instance, has a lead that uses the 3x Osc. I found out a few weeks later that you can buy a plug-in for something like 50 bucks that has a preset that sounds exactly like that.

So, any budding producers reading this, don't let the simple interface of it fool you, it's very possible to get some excellent sound out of it. It's also a great way to learn how to figure out how to take a powerful plug-in and make insanely cool sounds with it.

This guy in the video even made very convincing percussions with this thing on top of it all, something even I have a hard time doing from time to time, but percussions are among the hardest things to synthesize to perfection anyway. Still worth the listen though.

...yes, it's obvious filters were used here. I'd say it isn't a crime to use filters to make a good sound sound better. :icon_thum

I use it time to time. I prefer the bigger VSTi's though.

Yeah, bigger VSTi's have plenty of uses because they can actually process wave forms differently (and in some cases like Sytrus, you can make your own custom wave forms for the most part)

I'm currently exploring what other third party VSTs have to offer in terms of creating your own sound. One of them is Synth1 which is free. :)
