The 2gb card I took from my sirius stiletto when upgrading to a 4 gb is now not working. This just happened to my other 2g kensington card, what gives? My computer acts like there is nothing there now when it didnt with it before.
Well they're not supposed to have a very long life. How old is the card?
What's the typical life span supposed to be?
I hear cheap cards have 10k cycles until errors appear.
10k sounds a lot, but it isn't - the directory data is stored at a certain offset and each time you write (or erase) data, the directory is updated; so it's only 10000 files written or deleted until the drive fails. A-Grade chips (Samsung etc.) will last much longer, probably 10-100x as many write cycles.
That is pretty short. Fortunately, I haven't had one die on me yet.
