I've often used MediaCoder, its handles many formats and is OpenSource. I've also heard good things about Super. There have been some report of possible spyware or a trojan in super, so you may want to avoid it, its up to you. Other than those, there are some commercial software but thats just a waste of money.

For video, I actually like Cucusoft's product enough that I would almost pay for it. Oh...and Magic DVD Ripper is very good, too.

For audio, MediaMonkey (free) is very good.

I seriously hope you are joking, anyone who spams as much as they do don't deserve any publicity.

Also for audio you can use foobar which works quite well.

I still use winavi to convert mov and avi files to DVD. The new versions are slower but the quality is very high

Didn't expect Autodesk to have a video converter. It makes sense considering its probably just selling a extension of their CAD or 3d animation software, but its still strange to see them associated with the video conversion sector.
