Fans of classical music and jazz are creative, pop lovers are hardworking and, despite the stereotypes, heavy metal listeners are gentle, creative types who are at ease with themselves.

So says Professor Adrian North of Scotland’s Heriot-Watt University who has been studying the links between people’s personalities and their choice of music.

"People often define their sense of identity through their musical taste, wearing particular clothes, going to certain pubs, and using certain types of slang," North said.

"It’s not surprising that personality should also be related to musical preference."

...thus defying any forms of logic that would suggest that you gotta be at least a little creative to be able to find non-RIAA music. Gotta love how the original study gave several rock options, but categorized anything remotely alternative (indie rock all the way to the many genres of electornica) is put into one category - "indie"

Looks like the study was revised so far since I see that "electronica/dance" was added. Not enough because dance/electronica can be anywhere from synthpop to techno, to trance, to ambient, to drum n' bass to hardcode to happy hardcore to dubstep to psychedelic to house, etc. etc. Most of these genres give you a COMPLETELY different listening experience respectively.

The study website is found at www.peopleintomusic.com. They better revise their findings because I find the findings extremely offensive.

Anyway, the studies premise is as flawed as the guy researching what race is smarter. In the end its just their opinion and bigotry that shines through.
