Is it illegal to download adult content?

Hey, I've tried to google this question and look it up on several sites but I'm not really finding an answer.

I have never heard of anyone getting sued for downloading adult torrents, is it legal to do? or does the adult industry not really care?

Any feedback would be appreciated, the only answers I have found is that child porn is illegal and that is just common sense and everyone should know that, but is "adult" video downloading illegal and have you ever heard of a case where someone was sued for it?

in most (if not all)countries it is illegal to download copyrighted content, including porn.

i remember reading a while back about a porn usegroup getting shut down, forget the name and can't remember the link, think it was on torrentfreak. but other than that, you're right...not too many porn lawsuits floating around.

    i wonder why?

i remember hearing about the adult film industry being very p.o.'ed about the p2p'ing of their contents... i don't believe we hear as much about their battle because they don't have the power and money that the mpaa/riaa do, but i do believe porn is also considered illegal.

that being said, you can still download the homemade stuff for free without worries

    just my thoughts though.

i wouldn't say the porn industry lacks in money, power, or influence...i remember a lot of people attributed VHS's victory in the tape wars to the porn industry. but i do think they're dealing with it better, makes sense when you consider that they're usually the first ones to adopt newer technology to suit their needs.

besides, they've upped the ante and are delivering more quality. the up-cumming epic, Schlinder's Fist is a classic in the making. who wouldn't pay to see that?

    Okay a few points...

even "amateur" porn is likely to be copyright of someone

The reason there are few busts for uploading porn is exactly as stated there is no MPAA of the porn industry

AND the porn industry has always been at the front edge of digital distribution- they get a good revenue off the server client model and aren't too concerned with P2P- they make plenty of revenue because we want their products- unlike the MPAA/RIAA

Basically its a good capitalist model- present a product the consumer wants they will pay for it...there are that many niches in porn everyone can make a living- unlike the homogenised shite the MPAA/RIAA members produce...

read em and weep MPAA/RIAA - THE BEST MODEL FOR A BUSINESS IS TO PRODUCE A PRODUCT WITH SUFFICIENT DEMAND TO SUSTAIN THE BUSINESS...

okays porn is a pretty morally low bar for a business venture, however the model transferred works- porn industry produced the first HD downloads etc etc...

Porn is pretty cheap to make so they don't have to sell a lot of units to make a profit.

    ..
There should be. There has been a sharp decline in elephant porn due to p2p piracy.
