    RAM frequency question

    Hi all,

I have four DDR RAM chips of 512 MB each. 3 out of the 4 are DDR400 and the 4th one is DDR266. Is it fine if I install all of them or will my performance get degraded due to the 4th RAM? So basically, my question is whether I should install just the 3 DDR400 RAM chips or can I install all the 4 chips without facing any problem. Thank you.

If your motherboard is supporting overclocking RAMs (basically it will or you can do it manually), then you could overclock the 4th RAM to 400 MHz. That way you won't have any speed decrease.

But if it's not the case, you better stay with 1.5 Gb of RAM as it will affect your performance by decreasing the 3 other RAMs speed to 266 MHz.

    hope that helps
