@vato: as for BT only being for "new stuff" i think that's a little misinformed. I've found things on BT that I couldn't find anywhere else (except amazon). try (if you haven't already) a mega-torrent search like isohunt. i'd be interested to know an example of something you're looking for (and havent found on BT), maybe you could challenge one of us to find it?
Sailor Senshi Venus 5. It's hentai.
I can't find it on any public trackers OR the (admittedly few) private ones I'm on.

OK, I know I wasn't the guy that started this thread, but still -- BT does seem to be more centered on "current" stuff, with the exception of a certain private music tracker that I absolutely adore for breakfast.

It's all about the money ho.
WTF are you talking about ?
Did it ever occurred to you, that running a dedicated, preferably offshore located server, costs money ?
Do you realize how much work and time is involved to run a tracker?
Not to mention a certain risk...
How are we (that run trackers) supposed to pay for that without the donation system ?
people like you really piss me off, you get everything for free, on a silver Platter, but no, that's not good enough...
Jeez, you are provided with the Platform and the content, all done by others.

The only thing you have to do is take some responsibility for your actions and share.
I bet that is where your frustration about donations comes in, you probably were forced to donate in order to keep your account or getting banned for hit and run.

Mind me, the above is just an educated guess...(forgive me if I'm wrong)

If you are unable to support a P2P community by delivering or sharing content, you can always donate to do your part in keeping the protocol and the principle of free file sharing alive.
And yes, you get rewarded for doing so.
    What's wrong with that?

    On topic..
For me there are only 2 platforms, usenet and bittorrent
In both instances you have to learn the art of searching (google is a good one for that, the biggest torrent indexing site on the net)
As others have said before, there are plenty of specialized (niche) sites around and it's worth while to get (and maintain) as many memberships as possible if you are after the rare stuff.
