sonicnap servers always had 20000+
users but now they don't have more than 8000! Anyone know what happened?

Opennap is declining. No secret there. Its outdated. No multisource. Centralised servers. I certainly don't use Opennap anymore, not even with WinMX.
You can't triple stamp a double stamp.
Don't agree with you. You can find rare stuff there and that's all that matters to me. Getting what I want.

When you talk about 'OpenNap'... you actually mean 'OpenNap Protocol Networks'. So saying that OpenNap Protocol Networks support multisource donwloads isn't quite right either. First you have to know that OpenNap Protocol Networks can be created with different server software.
- OpenNap (development stopped)
- OpenNap-ng: Further development of the open source OpenNap serversoftware (ng = new generation) (Ansi C)
- SlavaNap: Win32 environment server software. (Delphi 4)
- And a few projects like SmallNap (Visual Basic) and jnerve (Java).
In this list, only the OpenNap-ng servers or networks support multisource downloading.
Is that a downside ? It's a working anti-leeching program unlike tools like MXLinx for WinMX, most networks only ask to share 10 or 20 files (rip a CD and you can share 20, no need to have a fast connection). And pickiness what you can and cannot share, we don't allow anyone to share 'childporn' cause we just don't allow sick bastards on our network, that's not pickiness. The one downside to opennap servers is the inconsistency in their owners. As with Neo-Modus Direct Connect hubs, each one has their own rules and pickiness, and edicts about what you can and cannot share.
Not allowing dial-up connections happens very rarely... mostly on private networks, or 'movies-only' newtorks.and if you have a 56k modem they'll kick you off (DC), ban you, run various scripts and bots in the chats, some of which are malicious, etc.
The most common script is Trivia which is there to entertain users while downloading, and it's ran in a different room then the main chat room. Other scripts are used by the serverowners to administrate and are invisible for users (or should be at all time).
Those rules are very mild, and in return for that you have access to more then what peer-to-peer can ever offer you. OpenNap Protocol Networks have the files.
Go Kenny Go Kenny :-0
Even tho opennap protocol is practically death, the latest release of the slavanap serer software has boosted up the numbers on the slvanap servers and what they can hold.
For soniknap..well all i know is that they went from opennap to slavanap, and somehow lost their ability to spoof their stats. BUT fact is that now u can actually log onto soniknap, and actually can find files there.
As for the pathetic childporn lovers...thats why they invented the gallows dident they.
